Default Which expansion?

Okay, I've read the "Which Guild Wars to Buy?" thread, but I want to get insight from other players instead of just one person who wrote a single thread.

I've purchased the original Prophecies chapter of Guild Wars about a year or two ago, and haven't really touched it since I finished it with a Lv. 20 R/Me. But now, there's two new expansions, and with Factions at $50 and Nightfall at $40, I can't afford to purchase both as it would put a $90 dent in my wallet.

I'm leaning towards Nightfall, as I enjoy group-play, and Nightfall, being the newest expansion, is probably where I would get the most of it. I also like PvE more than PvP, but a balance between both is always nice.

So, fello GWGuru forum-browsers, what's your opinion? Should I go with Factions or Nightfall, and why?

Nightfall, Heroes... Inscriptions... Pets... More stuff than that, but still..

You also have GW:EN to consider...

Hi there,

Just so you know, you may be able to find each game at $30 (that's the common best price you can find in the UK, i.e. ??15).

Though I enjoyed a lot the very special ambiance of Factions, I'd tend to advice to buy Nightfall since the Hero system is a big positive of this campaign.

You may also want to buy the new Eye of the North, though more expensive (but there may packages at better prices) it also provides heroes and has cool new features (including the Hall of Monuments, an artefact to move things from GW to GW2).

Hope this helps.

The newest expansion, Guild Wars: Eye of the North, comes out in a week. Wait for it and buy it. It will be around $40, if you are quick you can pre order it and get some spiffy weapons for your heros to be (or your own character) and take place in the preview event this weekend. Then if it keeps your interest after you beat it, pick up either Nightfall or Factions to keep the mojo going. Most will suggest Nightfall, but Factions does have its bright spots as well.

Most will recommend Nightfall over factions. Now that Eye of the North is coming out next week, you may want to go that route.

As for the "Player on a budget..." thread, that's a compilation of many, many peoples' comments regarding the pros and cons of each chapter when responding to the question (it's been asked hundreds of times - LOL), not just one person's view.
